This pub is tiny on the inside, with barely enough room to swing a cat. However, there are nooks and crannies all over the place, with a few separate rooms with tables down a rabbit warren of corridors, then there's the rear beer garden, which is the nicest in York city centre by far and probably one of the biggest too. The bar area gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but still reasonable volume levels to allow normal conversations. The beer garden is always peaceful and there's plenty of seating, some of it sheltered.
